Colorado football could not capitalize on a significant opportunity Saturday evening against No. 24 BYU. They had the Cougars on the ropes up 14-0, but eventually fell 24-21.
The Buffaloes showed flashes as they have in all games this year, but the consistency was not there once again. Dre’lon Miller’s new role as an offensive weapon, primarily out of the backfield, sparked the Buffs’ offense, but it was not enough despite the sophomore’s two touchdowns. CU quarterback Kaidon Salter showed his abilities during the first quarter, but looked indecisive and confused at times later in the contest.
Colorado’s defense kept them in the game, giving them a chance to put together a game-tying or winning drive, but penalties and missed third-down stops came back to bite the Buffs. It was a game that easily could have gone Colorado’s way, but too many mistakes against a well-coached and disciplined team often don’t work out well.
Deion Sanders’ squad has a lot to work on, and with the schedule only getting harder from here (No. 25 TCU next week), there is not much room for error.
Here are some of the best reactions from Buff Nation following Saturday night’s disappointing loss.

Former Colorado interim head coach chimes in
Kaidon Salter going 96 Yards in 1:49 feels slightly different than Shedeur Sanders…

Do other Buffs fans feel this way?
For all the national tv games, the gold jackets on the sidelines, the celebs in attendance; without Travis and Shedeur, Prime looks like this moment as a power conference HC is too big for him. #cubuffs#CFB

Coach Prime is giving his team a wakeup call
Deion Sanders says the moment was too big for some of his players.
BYU beats Colorado 24-21. CU is now 2-3 and has not beaten a P4 team yet. #SkoBuffs#CUBuffs

There was definitely some questionable clock management
Imagine dedicating your entire life to football and not understanding how timeouts work

It is definitely becoming a trend
It is so unbelievably clear that this program is woefully unprepared for every critical situation,
It’s been that way since Day 1 but we had enough talent and enough of a hill to climb to respectability to tolerate it.
That’s no longer the case. I’m at a loss for words.

“They can’t stop the damn run. If you can’t stop the run, you gonna lose every game. Here we are in year 3 and they haven’t gotten better. They ain’t got the players. The ones that are there, are making mistakes you can’t make” pic.twitter.com/AAyi3ijS3T
