Lakers big man Maxi Kleber sat out Wednesday's practice with an injury

The Los Angeles Lakers held their second official day of practice of the 2025-26 NBA season during training camp on Wednesday. Unfortunately, they have now suffered their first new injury of the new season.

Big man Maxi Kleber, whom they acquired along with Luka Doncic and Markieff Morris in that tectonic trade in February, tweaked his quad on Tuesday. As a result, he wasn’t able to take part in practice on Wednesday.

He will have to undergo an MRI to determine the exact extent of the injury. Head coach JJ Redick said following Wednesday’s session that he hopes Kleber’s ailment isn’t anything serious.

If Kleber is healthy, there is a chance that he could provide the Lakers with serviceable minutes at the 4 and 5 positions. While he shot the basketball very poorly last season prior to sustaining a foot injury in January, he has historically been a decent 3-point shooter, as well as a respectable defender.

Los Angeles will begin its exhibition schedule on Friday with a contest against the Phoenix Suns at Acrisure Arena in the Inland Empire.
