The Pittsburgh Steelers made it to their Week Five bye week with a 3-1 record and are sitting on top in the AFC North. This has been thanks to some production by a significant number of new players on both sides of the football. The Steelers have also found themselves in a position where more than one established starter is being phased out of the game plan, and this could mean Pittsburgh tries to work some trades to help bolster other positions of need.
Here are three Steelers who could find themselves on the trading block.
TE Pat Freiermuth
The addition of Jonnu Smith, along with the utility of Darnell Washington, has minimized the role of Freiermuth in the offense. Freiermuth is an excellent receiving tight end in a system that would use him and he could garner significant interest.
EDGE Alex Highsmith
Highsmith’s injury has allowed Nick Herbig to steal the spotlight in a big way. Along with the quick emergence of rookie Jack Sawyer, you can see why Pittsburgh might want to shop Highsmith and his big contract.
RB Jaylen Warren
It’s only been one game but Warren’s knee injury might have opened the door for Kenneth Gainwell to steal the starting job and after having the best game of the year, could tempt the Steelers to trade Warren and move rookie Kaleb Johnson into the backup spot.
