Taylor Swift’s highly anticipated new album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” was released on Friday. While that’s good news for Swifties everywhere, it’s a very bad omen for Purdue football.
That’s right. You read that correctly.
The Boilermakers are the subject of an absolutely absurd stat involving Swift and her recent album releases. In a streak that dates back to 2006, Purdue is a stunning 0-10 when playing a game the weekend after Swift releases an album.
That certainly doesn’t bode well as coach Barry Odom’s team looks to knock off a ranked Illinois team at home on Saturday after starting the year 2-2.

Most recently, Purdue lost 31-14 to Nebraska on Oct. 28, 2023, one day after the release of “1989 (Taylor’s Version).” The most lopsided loss also came at the hands of Illinois in 2010, when the Boilermakers lost 44-10.
We’ll see if Odom’s squad can finally end the streak on Saturday, but history certainly isn’t on its side.
