Oct. 3—JAMESTOWN, N.D. — The Bemidji State women’s cross country team traveled to Jamestown, N.D., on Friday, where it took seventh in the Jimmie Invitational.
Maggie McCarthy found the top spot for the Beavers, taking 17th amid a mixture of Division I and II opponents. She was one of just three runners from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference to crack the top 20. McCarthy’s 22:50.6 finish marked a season-best for the senior.
Sophie Rylance also found a spot in the top 50, taking 48th at 24:18.9, also marking a season-best. Jazzlyn Hanenberger’s 24:41.2 run grabbed her the 54th spot and a personal best. Ava Werner marked a season-best with 25:45.7, taking 69th. Continuing the season-best trend, Callie Ressler and Sydnie Price took 77th and 88th with times of 26:41.5 and 29:02.8, respectively. Makayla Waldron rounded out the Beavers’ lineup with a finish in 90th place, marking a time of 29:35.6
This week’s race prepares the team for the 6,000-meter NSIC Championship on Oct. 24 in Wayne, Nebraska. The race is slated for noon at the Wayne Country Club.
