Fantasy Football Panic Meter: 3 players to be concerned about

Who should you be in panic mode about during Week 5 of the NFL season? Out of these three players that have made the list, one or two may warrant a drop at some point in your league. Or a possible trade. Let’s find out who.

Marvin Harrison Jr. (WR) – Arizona Cardinals

During a Week 4 game for Harrison Jr., he caught a touchdown pass in the 4th quarter after having a less-than-mediocre first three weeks of the season. Through the first three quarters of that game, his body language did not look promising. He has had a few untimely drops along the way. After catching the touchdown pass, Harrison Jr looked relieved and revamped. So, the rest of the season will go two ways. It will either be a turning point for the rest of the season, or he will continue to show inconsistency.

He has been targeted 27 times in four games, but has only been able to haul in 16 catches. He does have 2 touchdowns on the year for 208 yards, but folks have expected more out of him. Tight end Trey McBride is leading the team in receiving, which means QB Kyler Murray isn’t getting the ball down the field to Harrison Jr. I would give it a couple more weeks, but if things do not improve for the young wide receiver, he could be used as trade bait in your fantasy league, or an emergency WR on the bench.

Ladd McConkey (WR) – Los Angeles Chargers

Just like Harrison Jr. above, McConkey has 16 catches on 27 targets, but has only 174 yards receiving with zero touchdowns so far. This is really concerning for McConkey. He has been completely overshadowed by another wide receiver, Quentin Johnston, and the veteran Keenan Allen. Last season, McConkey had 82 catches for 1,149 yards and 7 touchdowns. He will get on track at some point, but for now, it is definitely worth keeping an eye on whether to start him or bench him for the week. I do not believe that he warrants a drop or trade just yet.

Alvin Kamara (RB) – New Orleans Saints

It’s not that Kamara is having a bad year by any stretch of imagination. He is just on a terrible team. Kamara leads the Saints in rushing with 256 yards on 65 carries. He is averaging 3.9 yards per carry and has caught 13 passes out of the backfield. He is not finding the end zone, having scored only one touchdown thus far. The Saints have been relying heavily on the pass due to not having a lead once in a game this year, and they’re always playing catch-up. Kamara has a short leash in fantasy leagues, but a drop or a benching may be imminent.
