Huskers earn fifth straight sweep in victory over Rutgers

Nebraska volleyball (14-0, 4-0) remained on the road following a massive sweep over Penn State, hitting the East Coast for a matchup with Rutgers (10-6, 1-3). The Huskers delivered another sweep (25-17, 25-15, 25-16), this time in front of a sold-out crowd, making it the largest attendance for a volleyball match in the state of New Jersey.

This is Nebraska’s fifth straight sweep, coming off the back of its fifth straight matching hitting .360 or higher and the fourth straight match holding an opponent under .110. The Huskers finished with a percentage of .390, earning 37 kills on 77 attacks, while holding Rutgers to .061, allowing just 32 kills on 98 attacks.

Errors plagued the Scarlet Knights, who suffered 35 in total, while Nebraska only coughed up 14. This allowed for the Huskers to pull away in each set on route to their sweep.

Harper Murray led Nebraska with 11 kills off 24 attacks, while also earning four digs, three blocks, and a service ace. Skyler Pierce and Andi Jackson each pitched in six kills off 12 attacks, with Jackson adding four digs and three blocks in the process. Manaia Ogbechie earned five kills in the win off 10 attacks and a posted a team-high eight blocks.

Bergen Reilly brought in a team-high 15 set assists and two blocks. Campbell Flynn notched 12 set assists. Laney Choboy rounded out the group with a match-high 10 digs.

Nebraska returns home Friday night for a one-night stay, taking on Washington after dark before hitting the road yet again. The first serve is set for 8 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.
