The Brooklyn Nets got back to work on Saturday night to begin the preseason schedule with a home contest against Hapoel Jerusalem. It gave coach Jordi Fernandez an opportunity to see what he has in rookies like Ben Saraf, Danny Wolf, and Nolan Traore as well as new additions Michael Porter Jr., Terance Mann, and Kobe Bufkin.
Porter, acquired from the Denver Nuggets in the Cam Johnson trade, had 13 points, five rebounds, and four assists to lead the Nets to a 123-88 win while Mann had 15 points. Both new additions shot the ball well as they combined to shoot 4-for-7 from deep while Bufkin had eight points and four rebounds off the bench.
Saraf had nine points and six assists in a start, Wolf had five points, five rebounds, and five assists while Traore had seven points. The showing from the new pieces gives the Nets something to build on as they move forward in the exhibition schedule.
Other notable stat lines are from Noah Clowney who added 13 points and four rebounds off the bench, Nic Claxton added 11 and eight rebounds, and Cam Thomas added eight points.
The Nets will now head to China for their next preseason game on Oct. 10 against the Phoenix Suns at 8 a.m. EDT.
