Former AS Monaco forward Saimon Bouabré, who now plays in Saudi Arabia for Neom SC, has travelled out to Chile where he will compete in the U20 World Cup with Les Bleuets.

Bernard Diomede’s preparations for the tournament were hindered by club’s recalling players amid injry crises, notably at Paris Saint-Germain. Diomede wasn’t able to compensate for those late withdrawals and has had to wait for the FIFA international window in order to do so.

However, as France’s U20s prepare to face Japan in the Round of 16 on Wednesday night, reinforcements are on the way. Bouabré will join up with the squad and it is hoped that he will featured in the game.

Zézé to join France U21s

However, he will not be joined in Chile by his Neom SC teammate and former FC Nantes defender Nathan Zézé. The centre-back will instead link up with the France U21 squad, L’Équipe understands.
