Two LSU football commits make USA TODAY Sports All-American watchlist

LSU football’s 2026 recruiting class is one of the best in the country. Although LSU is likely out of the race for the No. 1-overall class, the Tigers are set to sign a handful of top talent, especially on the defensive line.

USA TODAY High School Sports released an updated high-school All-American watchlist as the high school football season hits its stride in October. As expected, two of LSU’s defensive line commits made the cut — Richard Anderson and Lamar Brown.

Here’s what USA TODAY HSS had to say about the standout defenders:

“Richard Anderson’s key stops against American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.) helped Edna Karr firmly establish itself as a top team this season. Listed at 6-foot-4 and 340 pounds, he has been an important part for a defense that has allowed only 41 points through five games.”

“Put Lamar Brown on the offense or defense line of this watch list, it doesn’t matter. His strength and quick lateral movement helps him beat opponents on both side of the ball and break through double teams at the line of scrimmage. He’s the No. 1 player on the 247Sports Composite.”

Anderson and Brown were massive gets for LSU. Both are Louisiana prospects and among the best at their position. Brian Kelly and staff can’t afford prospects of this caliber to leave the state.

Per Rivals’ latest rankings, LSU’s 2026 recruiting class sits No. 10 nationally. The top three commits all play defensive line, as Brown and Anderson are joined by Florida native Trenton Henderson. LSU’s defense took a massive step forward in 2025, and the trend looks to continue with more talent on the way.

USA TODAY High School Sports will continue to update the All-American watchlist throughout the season. The final product will be unveiled in December.
