Browns pulls off CB shocking trade ahead of Week 6 matchup vs. Steelers

The Cleveland Browns just pulled off a shocking trade just days before their exciting AFC North divisional matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers — trading CB Greg Newsome II to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

On Wednesday afternoon, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Browns were sending Newsome and a 2026 sixth-round draft pick to the Jaguars in exchange for CB Tyson Campbell and a 2026 seventh-round draft pick.

Infamously known in Pittsburgh for his huge fight with George Pickens during Week 12’s Thursday Night Football matchup, Newsome is playing on his fifth-year option this season — while Campbell gives Cleveland a long-term solution at cornerback, signing a four-year deal worth $76.5 million in July 2024.

It remains to be seen if Campbell can adapt to Cleveland’s playbook in time for the Week 6 matchup against the Steelers on October 12, but the Browns need every available cornerback they can muster, especially with Denzel Ward recently limited in practice on Wednesday — an ideal scenario for Pittsburgh’s offense.
