Quarterback isn’t exactly the most glamorous position in fantasy football, but when a name like Joe Flacco joins the Cincinnati Bengals and gets to throw passes to Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, it’s worth the raise of an eyebrow.
Flacco was a non-starter of a conversation in Cleveland. He threw six picks, went 1-3 and really didn’t have better stats than Jake Browning, the guy he’s replacing in Cincinnati.
But when it comes to fantasy football upside, Cincinnati isn’t Cleveland.

Flacco is 40 and joining a new team, but he’s in a beneficial position where he can get the ball out fast to the proper read and let the league’s top wideout room go to work. He’s also got a big slot tight end in Mike Gesicki, Noah Fant at tight end and running backs like Chase Brown.
For now, ESPN says Flacco is the 28th quarterback with a projected 12.5 fantasy points. Probably fair, but even Browning put up roughly 19 points last week while throwing a trio of scores and picks, the former coming in garbage time.
If Flacco can prove the Bengals right by turning down the turnovers and hitting a few of those patented deep shots to Chase and Higgins, he might have more fantasy consistency than some would expect.
Nobody is saying go grab and start Flacco this weekend. But the Bengals’ cast of weapons and an extremely favorable schedule the rest of the season might make him worth a stash before others realize what’s happening.
