Ex-Broncos running back works out for division rival

Former Denver Broncos running back Royce Freeman worked out for the Los Angeles Chargers after L.A. lost rookie running back Omarion Hampton to an ankle injury. As of the time of publication, the Chargers have opted against adding Freeman, signing Nyheim Hines to their practice squad instead.

Freeman (6-0, 238 pounds) was picked by the Broncos in the third round of the 2018 NFL draft out of Oregon. He totaled 1,596 yards from scrimmage and scored nine touchdowns in three seasons (46 games) in Denver. The 29-year-old running back has spent time with six other NFL teams since then, most recently with the Chicago Bears this summer.

Elsewhere on the ex-Bronco front, 2017 second-round draft pick DeMarcus Walker worked out for the San Francisco 49ers, quarterback Jeff Driskel was cut from the Las Vegas Raiders‘ practice squad and tight end Nick Vannett signed with the Minnesota Vikings‘ practice squad.
