Gerrard left out of Liverpool legends squad amid Rangers talks

Steven Gerrard has been left out of the Liverpool legends squad following talks with Rangers over their vacant head coach position.

The 45-year-old is usually a regular in Liverpool’s charity matches but is missing from the squad for Saturday’s game against Chelsea Legends at Stamford Bridge.

Gerrard was set to hold talks with Rangers about returning to the club as their new head coach earlier this week as he emerged as one of the leading candidates for the position.

The Ibrox club are searching for Russell Martin’s replacement after the former Southampton boss was sacked after 17 games in all competitions with Rangers sitting eighth in the Premiership table.
