There is a well-known saying, “nobody is perfect,” and sadly that even applies to the Oregon Ducks. They lost their first game of the season to the Indiana Hoosiers, which ended their bid for another perfect regular season.
It seemed possible after a win over the Penn State Nittany Lions at Beaver Stadium, the No. 2 team in the nation at that point, but that opportunity is gone now. Both the Ducks’ offense and defense played solid at certain points of the game against the Hoosiers, but ultimately, they didn’t do nearly enough to win.
There was nothing extremely alarming that will plague the team for the remainder of the season. It was just a lackluster game coming out of the bye week for a young team, who we hope will learn from their mistakes.
The biggest concern that emerged from the game was the status of quarterback Dante Moore after he took a few huge hits. He was seen limping to the huddle at different points and wincing in pain on the sideline, but head coach Dan Lanning assured the media and fans that his young star is feeling okay.
He didn’t think it was the case that Moore was standing in the pocket too long, rather that the offensive line needs to clean up the protection a bit.

Moore was asked personally by reporters about how he was doing after the shots he took, to which he replied, “I feel amazing.”

We’ve seen him play through some pain in previous games after taking a beating from defenders, so the fact that he finished the game should have been a pretty sign. But still, Moore is perhaps the most important player in Oregon’s quest for a National Championship, so you can never be too sure.
Moore is facing his first real adversity of the season after throwing two interceptions against Indiana. He and the Ducks will look to get back on track next Saturday against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, some much-needed lighter competition.
