Stefon Diggs was on the receiving end of two very harsh and controversial calls in Sunday’s win over the New Orleans Saints.
The New England Patriots receiver was called for offensive pass interference twice, with the first one erasing a 61-yard touchdown catch by DeMario Douglas. The second took away an impressive 51-yard completion by Diggs, who made the grab and got two feet in following a perfect throw by Drake Maye.
Reporters spoke to Diggs after the game about this, and he was careful about what he said, while also calling on the NFL to take a look.
“I don’t really be tripping, to be honest. I try my best to make plays and catch the ball when they come to me,” Diggs said (per MassLive). “When I get (back) hopefully we can submit them to the league to see if it was supposed to be called or not. But I don’t cry over spilled milk.”
However, he did say that no receiver is ever going to admit that an offensive pass interference penalty against them was the right call.
“I’m never going to say it’s OPI,” Diggs explained.
“I would love to complain about them. I haven’t got to watch it yet. Hopefully, I get some eyes to it soon,” he added. “I’m a receiver. I’m always saying it didn’t happen, so we’ll see how it goes. I wish they could take it back.”
