Two Tennessee football players were honored when the SEC announced its weekly awards Monday.
Kicker Max Gilbert was named SEC Co-Special Teams Player of the Week, while wide receiver Braylon Staley earned Freshman of the Week by the conference after the Vols defeated Arkansas, 34-31, at Neyland Stadium.
Gilbert made two field goals and converted 4-of-4 extra point attempts in the victory against the Razorbacks, including a 50-yard field goal. He also converted a 37-yard field goal.
Gilbert, a redshirt sophomore, has converted 10-of-12 field goal attempts this season. He is also perfect in field goal attempts from 50 yards and beyond, converting 2-of-2 in 2025.
Gilbert ranks fifth nationally in points per game (10.7) and fourth in total points (67). He also leads the SEC in both categories. Gilbert shared the award with Texas punt returner Ryan Niblett.
Staley, a redshirt freshman, recorded his first 100-yard game against Arkansas. He totaled six receptions for 109 yards. Staley recorded five receptions for 105 yards in the first half.
