The Green Bay Packers opened their practice week on Wednesday preparing for Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals and released their first injury report of the week. It included 13 players injured and one listed with an illness.
Heading the list are three starters from the offensive line and three wide receivers. One of the latter is Christian Watson, who is close to returning after opening the season on reserve/physically unable to perform.
The full details of their first injury report are below. Starters are noted with an asterisk.
Green Bay Packers injury report: Did not participate
- K Brandon McManus (right quadriceps)
- *RT Zach Tom (oblique/back)
- DE Lucas Van Ness (foot)
- *DT Devonte Wyatt (knee)
McManus suffered his injury in practice last Wednesday and the following day Greg Joseph and Lucas Havrisik had tryouts. Havrisik was signed Saturday when it was determined that McManus wouldn’t be able to kick and he made field goals of 39 and 43 yards in the 27-18 victory over the Bengals.
Tom originally injured his oblique in Week 1, missed most of the next three games and then played all 61 snaps against the Bengals. Head coach Matt LaFleur said Monday, “I thought he battled and I thought played extremely hard. It was nice to have him back out there.” Wednesday before practice, LaFleur said Tom was “feeling better.”
Wyatt was injured in Week 4 against the Cowboys and did not play against the Bengals. LaFleur said before Wednesday’s practice, “He’s getting closer. He won’t go today, but we’ll obviously give him the week.”
While not a starter, Van Ness played 39 snaps (57 percent) against Dallas in Week 4, but only 22 (34 percent) after being injured on a sack of Bengals quarterback Joe Flacco. After a MRI Monday, there was some good news as LaFleur said, “We definitely avoided something serious, but how long he’ll be out remains to be seen.” The head coach has lauded the physicality Van Ness adds to the defense.

Jacobs played sick Sunday and LaFleur didn’t know about it until after the game in which he totaled 150 yards from scrimmage (93 rushing, 57 receiving on 23 total touches. Jacobs said he woke up feeling ill and was vomiting during the game.
Banks injured his groin in the opener, missed Week 2, aggravated the injury in Week 3, missed Week 4 and then played all 61 snaps against Cincinnati.
Morgan started in Weeks 2 and 4 with Banks out, then replaced Sean Rhyan at right guard against the Bengals and played 50 snaps to Rhyan’s 11.
