OU football injury update: Sooners OL Derek Simmons available to play vs South Carolina

NORMAN — OU football offensive lineman Derek Simmons is available to play against South Carolina after being left off Wednesday’s SEC availability report.

Simmons exited against Texas with an apparent ankle injury and didn’t return. Sooners coach Brent Venables said Tuesday he’s “day-to-day.”

OU running back Jovantae Barnes is questionable, while wide receiver Keontez Lewis, offensive lineman Logan Howland and tight end Kade McIntyre are doubtful.

“Jovantae, something happened in pregame,” Venables said Tuesday. “We thought initially it was hamstring, but there’s something else. I think it’ll be a short-term thing, I don’t really have any more information. He didn’t practice yesterday, but he’s moving around.”
