OU football RB Jovantae Barnes downgraded to doubtful to play vs South Carolina

NORMAN — OU football running back Jovantae Barnes was downgraded from questionable to doubtful on Thursday’s SEC availability report.

Sooners coach Brent Venables said Tuesday that Barnes was injured during pregame ahead of the Texas game and he didn’t practice on Monday.

“We thought initially it was hamstring, but there’s something else,” Venables said. “I think it’ll be a short-term thing, I don’t really have any more information.”

Without Barnes, OU is aiming to fix its run-game issues against South Carolina on Saturday.
