Trinity, St. X, Male football teams cruise to district victories in Week 9 KHSAA action

Zane Johnson passed for 210 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Trinity High School football team to a 37-0 victory over visiting Eastern on Friday.

Johnson completed 14 of 15 passes and threw touchdowns to Cross Watson, John Stivers, Kaleb Warner, Ashton Taylor and Jason Hagan.

Warner and Hagan both had a team-high three receptions.

Ranked No. 1 in Kentucky’s Class 6A, Trinity (7-2) can clinch the Class 6A, District Five title with a victory over Oldham County next week.

Eastern dropped to 1-7.

St. Xavier 40, North Hardin 7

Quarterback Mason Trimble threw three touchdown passes and rushed for another score to lift the host Tigers (5-3) —ranked No. 3 in Class 6A — over the Trojans (4-4).

Trimble threw touchdown passes to Herschel Highfield, Wyatt Graven and Marlon Harbin and also had a 28-yard scoring run.

Harbin and Cooper Yates added touchdown runs for the Tigers, who have clinched the No. 1 playoff seed from Class 6A, District Three.

Male 49, Fern Creek 15

Steron Davidson rushed for two touchdowns and also threw a touchdown pass to lift the Bulldogs (5-3) — ranked No. 7 in Class 6A — over the Tigers (3-5) at Jeffersontown.

Male quarterback Jordan Williams completed 8 of 14 passes for 158 yards and a touchdown. Jesse Jones caught three passes for 48 yards and two scores, and Tyson Kinsel rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown.

Male’s Christian White also returned a blocked punt for a score.

Fern Creek’s Javis Wallace completed 11 of 22 passes for 129 yards and a touchdown. Cauvey Jackson had four catches for 25 yards and a score.

Male will host Bullitt East next week to decide first place in Class 6A, District Four.

Christian Academy 61, Western 0

Jackson Burke passed for 174 yards and three touchdowns as the Centurions (9-0) — ranked No. 1 in Class 3A — routed the visiting Warriors (0-7).

CAL’s Ja’Hyde Brown had a 62-yard touchdown catch and also returned a punt 39 yards for a score. Tyree Stoner also scored two touchdowns (one rushing, one punt return).

CAL clinched the No. 1 playoff seed in Class 3A, District Three.

Collins 38, Anderson County 0

Kade Goodin passed for 322 yards and three touchdowns and also rushed for two scores to lead the host Titans (6-3) over the Bearcats (3-5).

Goodin completed 17 of 23 passes and also rushed for 30 yards on seven attempts.

Avi Delaney had six catches for 184 yards and two touchdowns. Logan Huelsman also caught a touchdown pass.

Collins will close its regular season at South Oldham next week.

North Oldham 52, Waggener 21

Colin Daniels passed for 298 yards and six touchdowns as the host Mustangs (8-1) — ranked No. 7 in Class 4A — beat the Wildcats (2-6) on Thursday to wrap up their first regular-season district title since 2014.

Daniels completed 10 of 13 passes and has five or more touchdown passes in four straight games.

Wide receiver Luke Tompkins had four catches for 105 yards and two touchdowns, giving him a school-record 17 this season.

Conner Nesmith added two touchdown catches, and Ronin Renton carried eight times for 101 yards and a score.

North Oldham’s six-game winning streak is its longest since a seven-game run in 2014.
