No. 4 Texas A&M (6-0, 3-0 SEC) will face off against the Arkansas Razorbacks (2-4, 0-2 SEC) on Tuesday afternoon, which will serve as the Aggies’ second road game of the season, and first in SEC play. While Texas A&M is a 7.5-point favorite, this is the first trip to Fayetteville since the 2013 season, a place the Aggies have not lost since 1988.
While Texas A&M’s defense has played at an elite level throughout the last three SEC matchups, this could end up being a high-scoring shootout, especially knowing that the predicted rainy forecast will affect the footing for both teams, which will either lead to a sloppy, low-scoring game, or two offenses pretty much doing what ever they want due to likely missed tackles on most plays.
This is all hypothetical. Although the Aggies have not played their best football in the first half of SEC play, head coach Mike Elko’s second-half adjustments, combined with starting quarterback Marcel Reed’s improved accuracy and decision-making, directly led to back-to-back blowout wins over Mississippi State and Florida. If the Aggie offense avoids turnovers and runs the ball effectively, the passing game, led by wide receivers KC Concepcion and Mario Craver, should produce a handful of explosive plays.
Defensively, stopping Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green in the pocket and consistently placing the Razorbacks behind the sticks is the key to keeping interim head coach Bobby Petrino at bay from a play-calling standpoint.
Ahead of the 2:30 p.m. kick off, Texas A&M’s media team released another impressive pre-game video, narrated by backup senior left tackle Reuben Fatheree II, discussing all the work the Aggies have put in to reach 6-0, and aren’t looking to trip up with all their goals in front of them.
