LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Lakers announced Saturday that they have waived R.J. Davis, Augustas Marčiulionis, Anton Watson and Nate Williams as they trim their roster ahead of the regular season on Tuesday against the Golden State Warriors.
Davis had the strongest preseason among the group, averaging 8.6 points and 1.4 rebounds in 16.1 minutes across five games in the preseason. Despite his solid showing, roster numbers and positional needs ultimately worked against him.
Williams, who was signed by the team with Watson in September, appeared in five preseason games, posting 4.2 points and 2.2 rebounds in 16.0 minutes. Watson—who played in four contests—averaged 1.3 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists in limited action.
Davis and Marčiulionis, who never saw any action in the preseason, were signed by the Lakers on July 26, while Watson and Williams joined the team on Sept. 27.
All four players could be candidates for the Lakers’ G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers, if they clear waivers.
