Rams vs. Jaguars: Studs and duds from Los Angeles' Week 7 win over Jaguars

The Los Angeles Rams entered their Week 7 matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday at Wembley Stadium in London, England, with a 4-2 record, and Sean McVay’s team earned a 35-7 win to move to 5-2 on the year.

Los Angeles came into the game as the favorites despite not having wide receiver Puka Nacua, and they showed exactly why, as they dominated offensively for most of the game. The other side of the ball also did their job, stifling any efforts that the Jaguars had throughout the game.

As we do after every game, let’s take a look at some Rams who deserve more credit for their efforts against the Jaguars, as well as some who will need to reflect after this one.

STUD: QB Matthew Stafford

Stafford had targeted Nacua more than any other weapon through the first six weeks of the season, and without him, the quarterback spread the ball out much more, completing passes to 10 different players. He finished the day going 21-for-33 for 182 yards and five touchdowns, becoming the first quarterback to throw five touchdowns in an international game.

DUD: RB Blake Corum

Corum suffered an ankle injury last week that kept him out for most of the game, but he returned as the second back on Sunday, rushing for just 37 yards on a lowly 3.09 yards per attempt. They’ll need him to be better than that going forward.

STUD: WR Davante Adams

As the top wide receiver in the offense, Adams showed Stafford that he can trust him, catching five passes for 35 yards and three touchdowns. They should feel more comfortable with each other in the future, especially in the red zone.

DUD: Rams’ third-quarter offense

Los Angeles’ offense was great throughout the game, but the third quarter was ugly. They punted four times in the quarter and were only able to gain a first down due to a penalty. The other three quarters made up for it.

STUD: DB Quentin Lake

Lake was all over the field defensively, ending the day with six tackles, two passes defensed, one sack and a forced fumble. Unfortunately, he was in coverage for a couple big plays, including Jacksonville’s lone touchdown.

STUD: CB Darious Williams

This may have been Williams’ best game of the year, as he had four passes defensed and two tackles against the Jaguars. His day moved him past former Rams safety John Johnson (39) on the franchise’s list of passes defensed leaders. Williams is now ninth in Rams history.

STUD: EDGE Byron Young

Young finished with just two tackles, but he had 1.5 sacks and brought key pressure to force a turnover on downs that would’ve been another half-sack for him if Lawrence didn’t get the ball away just in time. Through seven games, he’s already set a new career high for sacks with nine.
