The Denver Broncos stood pat at the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday.
There were rumblings that Denver was a candidate to trade for a wide receiver, and the team reportedly reached out to the Miami Dolphins about Jaylen Waddle’s trade status. In the end, Broncos general manager George Paton and coach Sean Payton opted not to make any moves.
“George and I, each day, talked about different things and that’s just how it turned out,” Payton said after Tuesday’s practice. The coach was then asked if the team was close to making any moves.
“No,” Payton said. “We discussed a few things but, all good.”
Payton was also asked about the buzz about Denver potentially making a move for a receiver.
“Yeah, I saw a lot of that,” Payton said. “We’ve invested in — we like this group and where we’re going.”
The Broncos are currently first in the AFC West with a 7-2 record, tied for the best record in the NFL going into Week 10. Denver’s set to host the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday Night Football on Nov. 6.
