Let’s get one thing straight: a game seven in any sport is certain to draw a larger TV audience, as spectators who may not care for either team, or even the sport, are more likely to tune in. Another thing, Los Angeles and Toronto are both massive markets, and with a team from Canada being in the World Series, that’s sure to bring in a few extra million from the country up north.
The reports say that Game Seven between the Dodgers and the Blue Jays averaged 38.9 million viewers.
Canada brought in an average of 10.9 million viewers, which was the largest broadcast event in Canada since the 2010 Olympics, and the United States racked in an average of 28 million spectators across the 50 states.
And that’s just from those two countries, and doesn’t include other countries around the world. Due to the players that were represented, it’s fair to assume that Mexico, Japan, and South Korea also brought in several millions of viewers.
