Eagles' captain Jordan Mailata praises a one-time nemesis turned ally

One of the best parts about watching the Philadelphia Eagles and cheering them on is that we get front-row seats to see these players grow and blossom. Jordan Mailata didn’t know how to put his helmet on when he arrived at the NovaCare Complex. Now, he’s a team captain. Think about that. What an incredible story!

That would certainly work if Disney is looking to write and produce another sports movie. Invincible was pretty cool. There’s no reason why a Jordan Mailata biopic wouldn’t work.

In the meantime, while they’re hopefully working on that, we get to enjoy his continuing story. He’s now one of the vocal leaders, and he recently shared his two cents on the Jaelan Phillips acquisition.

Jordan Mailata breathes a sigh of relief.

As this story is being written, Jaelan Phillips hasn’t played a single snap for the Eagles in a meaningful game. He already has everyone’s attention and has an opportunity to win the hearts of an adoring fan base. Current and former Eagles have weighed in, with Jason Kelce being one notable example. However, the new player did himself a favor by complimenting the city and fans as soon as he stepped off his plane.

“There is literally no other team I would rather play for.” He also mentioned wanting to win the respect of his teammates, coaches, and fans. By the looks of things, that won’t be an issue if he stays healthy. Early scouting reports suggest that injuries will be the only factor that can hinder his ability to contribute.

Philadelphia doesn’t often play the Miami Dolphins. Unless they meet during a Super Bowl, they’re only scheduled to play once every four years, but paths did cross in 2023, and Jaelan Phillips went off.

He notched seven total tackles, a sack, one tackle-for-loss, and two additional QB hits. Mailata remembers that day vividly, and he’s glad that he and a former nemesis are teammates now.

Well, we know that saying. If you can’t beat them, have Howie Roseman execute a trade to acquire him. Phillips is one of the good guys now. He trades navy blue, orange, and aqua for the midnight (or kelly) green, black, and silver of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Three new Birds joined the roster ahead of the NFL trade deadline. Make no mistake. Jaelan Phillips may be the player everyone is most excited to see.
