OU baseball stadium renaming on Board of Regents agenda for next week

OU President Joseph Harroz Jr. will recommend to the Board of Regents during next week’s meeting to approve naming the Sooners’ renovated baseball stadium the “Kimrey Family Stadium” in honor of the Kimrey family’s financial contributions, according to the agenda.

The naming will go into effect for the 2026 baseball season. Oklahoma will play its first home game of the season against New Mexico State on Feb. 17.

The Kimrey family has been dedicated supporters of the OU baseball program since 2018. Over the years, the Kimreys have given over $25 million to advance key priorities in the athletic department and to the baseball and football programs.

Planned renovations include construction of a new clubhouse, premium seating enhancements and a modern performance center “designed to elevate the student-athlete experience.” The project will encompass approximately 55,000 gross square feet of improvements.

The Sooners’ baseball stadium has carried the name of “L. Dale Mitchell Park” since 1979, honoring one of OU’s baseball legends.

As part of the renovation, The L. Dale Mitchell Plaza will be established to properly honor and recognize L. Dale Mitchell and his family’s enduring contributions to the OU baseball program, according to the agenda for the Nov. 10-11 meeting.

The Kimreys reside in Bartlesville. The OU naming committee met on August 18, 2025, and approved recommending this naming to the Board of Regents. The naming of the Kimrey Family Stadium will remain in effect for the lifetime of the facility.
