5 Georgia football players out with injuries against Mississippi State

The Georgia Bulldogs will be without several key contributors for the Saturday, Nov. 8 road game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Georgia notably received bad news about starting defensive tackle Jordan Hall, who went down against Florida with a knee injury. Hall is expected to miss the remainder of Georgia’s season.

Georgia got more optimistic updates on linebacker Chris Cole and cornerback Demello Jones. Cole leads Georgia’s defense in sacks and does not have an injury designation ahead of the Mississippi State game despite him leaving the game against Florida last week. Jones suffered an elbow injury against Florida, but it is not as serious as initially expected.

“(Demello Jones) is better than we originally thought,” Georgia coach Kirby Smart said. “He’s got some soreness in the elbow, but he may be able to play so we’re excited that the news wasn’t as significant as we thought.”

Georgia remains without tight end Ethan Barbour, who is likely out for the year. Receiver Talyn Taylor is “getting better and running now” after suffering an upper body injury. Starting safety Kyron Jones along with star receiver Colbie Young both remain out.

As for Mississippi State, they have a few key injuries in the trenches and five total players out against Georgia.
