This is a shortcoming, especially against compact, low-lying defences. Liverpool need players who can beat defensive lines and create space in tight spaces by drawing defenders away.
You can have a great passer in the team to do that, or you can have an excellent dribbler, who is able to thrive in tight spaces and beat two or three defenders at a time.
One of the best players in the Premier League at doing this is Antoine Semenyo. This season he ranks fifth for successful take-ons (21), meanwhile last season he was third (69).
Previously it has been suggested that Liverpool are in a pole position to sign the Ghanian winger for £75m.
And according to a new report from Indy Kaila, it’s not just Liverpool who want him. Semenyo also wants to join Liverpool.
