Manchester United could look to add a new midfielder in the January transfer window.
The Red Devils brought in three new attackers and a goalkeeper in the summer, leaving them short of funds for a new midfielder.
However, they could address that area of the pitch in January.
United have been linked with an interest in Elliot Anderson, but his price tag could be a major sticking point with Nottingham Forest expected to demand a fee in excess of £100 million.
However, reputed journalist Ben Jacobs suggests the England international could be available to sign for a significantly lower fee than £100m.
Jacobs also believes that Forest’s current struggles in the Premier League could take their toll on the player’s transfer value.
Appearing on The United Stand, the transfer insider said: “Don’t be surprised. I cannot say too much. I know a bit more than I would say, I am willing to report, but don’t be surprised when Elliot Anderson is looking for a move. It is a little bit cheaper than some reports are suggesting at the moment.”

This is delightful news for United supporters as Anderson is regarded as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League at the moment.
He is highly rated for his dribbling ability, passing and tactical intelligence.
The 23-year-old can also unleash powerful and accurate shots from both long-range and close quarters.
Anderson joined Forest from Newcastle United for a £35m fee in the summer of 2024.
He has since been a key player for the Tricky Trees, making 55 appearances in all competitions and scoring two goals.
Anderson has also been impressive this campaign, starting all 10 league matches so far.
