Giannis Antetokounmpo: ‘As I said, this year is not the year of excuses. You know it’s easy for us to say ‘Ah it’s back-to-back games’. We got in at 2:00 a.m., 3:00 a.m.’ You know, ‘it’s hard.’ We played a tough game the night before with a fast-paced team, blah blah blah blah. No, no, no. Good teams don’t lose two in a row. At the end of the day, we know that we have one goal against Toronto. We knew that this was an NBA Cup game, a team that was playing very, very well. They’re, I think, seven and one. We knew that they were going to keep coming.

Q. This Giannis Antetokounmpo story preventing a robbery of a woman whose purse was being stolen, is that real? Bobby Portis: That’s so cap. It was last week. We had like a little costume party. Everybody dressed up in their little costumes, whatever it was. And I remember the next day we had practice or a game or something. I think we had the Kings the next day. And I remember he came in with the black eye, and I’m like, ‘Bro, like what’s with you, you good?’ He’s like, ‘No, man. I was in a robbery. I was in a robbery. I was in the grocery store.’ I said, ‘Man, cap.’ And I didn’t know he was going to go to the media with it. Man, that’s cap, man. YouTube | Nov. 7, 2025

After winning the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague championship with Panathinaikos, the 59-year-old Turkish tactician requested a game against the then-NBA champions Boston Celtics to crown a world champion. “Two years ago, Ergin Ataman was saying Panathinaikos was better than Boston. I would love to see Panathinaikos and Boston play head-to-head,” said Giannis. “It’s kind of hard for the two leagues to merge, if there was anything like that that could happen. But I can see two leagues kind of co-exist together, operate in the same way, like have the NBA Europe and NBA here in the States, and NBA Africa, and whoever wins the championship can have a game against each other to see who is the best in the world,” he explained. James Boyd: #Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo on Myles Turner being booed in Indy: “It is bigger than sport. … He’s gonna go back home and he’s gonna be like, ‘OK, 10 years just went down the drain.’ And that’s not fair for anybody that gave 10 years to the game and 10 years to the #Pacers.”x.com | Nov. 4, 2025
Giannis Antetokounmpo: So anybody that was booing him today — or booing the Bucks… Okay, you can boo the Bucks — I understand. “But booing Myles Turner? Just think about yourself. Put yourself in that position — working at, I don’t know, your job — for 10 years. And all of a sudden, you decide to make a move for your family and for yourself because you have different goals, different aspirations in life. Then you go back, and your co-workers and your boss are yelling at you and booing you. You’re kind of like, ‘Man, what the hell?’ YouTube | Nov. 4, 2025
Giannis Antetokounmpo: Before the game, we could not stress enough to Myles how important it was for us to win this game for him. I’m just going to say this for Myles, because maybe he wouldn’t say it himself — being able to play in the NBA… The average lifespan of an NBA player is, I think, 4.5 years. He had 10 years of service with one franchise. To be able to come here — to Indiana — as the all-time blocks leader and to be booed? For sure, he might not say it, but it kind of hurt. We are here to pick him up. To tell him how much we love him, respect him, and understand how much he gave to the team in Indiana — and how much he’s willing to give to Milwaukee. He’s — as I said — a great person, great character, great competitor. I played against him for 10 years. I think he gave everything he had: blood, sweat, tears, his body — many times on the line — for the Indiana team. YouTube | Nov. 4, 2025
