Full Nets injury report for Sunday's matchup at the Knicks

The Brooklyn Nets have been having a whirlwind of a week as they went from being on a seven-game losing streak to winning their first game of the season to suffering another blowout loss. Brooklyn is hoping that they can recover from Friday’s 125-107 NBA Cup loss to the Detroit Pistons and the good news is that their injury report hasn’t changed.

The Nets announced on Saturday that guard Cam Thomas and forward Haywood Highsmith are out for Sunday’s game at the New York Knicks due to their respective injuries. Thomas is out for the next three to four weeks with a left hamstring strain while Highsmith is still recovering from offseason surgery on his right knee that will most likely have him off the floor until December.

Moving on, the Nets also announced that rookies Nolan Traore, Ben Saraf, and Danny Wolf are also out for Sunday’s matchup at the Knicks as they continued their G League assignments in Long Island. While some Nets fans will be disappointed to see that some of the rookies will not be playing at New York, but it’s important to keep the big picture in mind when seeing how they performed in the G League.

In Long Island’s 109-102 win over the Capital City Go-Go, the G League afiliate of the Washington Wizards, Saraf had an impressive outing as he finished the contest with 21 points, four rebounds, and three assists in just 27 minutes. Wolf also had an encouraging debut for the Long Island Nets as he dropped 15 points and 11 rebounds in the contest while Traore had 12 points and seven assists.

For the time being, head coach Jordi Fernandez will be relying on the veterans on the roster along with rookies Egor Demin and Drake Powell to win games moving forward. The good news is that there aren’t more players on the injury report as the Nets are coming off one of their worst losses of the season and the hope is that trend continues while Brooklyn tries to course-correct the season.
