Section 4 sends four boys soccer teams to NYSPHSAA semifinals

Chenango Valley, Binghamton Seton Catholic Central, Maine-Endwell and Edmeston secured berths in New York State Public High School Athletic Association semifinals with victories in regional finals Saturday, Nov. 8.

Elsewhere, Binghamton and Elmira fell in their state quarterfinals.

Class AAA: Guilderland 2, Elmira 1 (2 OT)

Carem Moncur scored off a throw-in with 9:08 remaining in the second 15-minute sudden-victory overtime to give Section 2’s Guilderland the win over Elmira in a Class AAA regional final at Waverly Memorial Stadium.

Elmira’s Luca Capilli tied the score 1-1 on a penalty kick in the first half after Guilderland scored off a corner kick.

The Express finished with a record of 12-2-3.

Class B: Chenango Valley 1, Ogdensburg 0

Parker Hayes scored the only goal with 15 minutes remaining to lift Chenango Valley to a Class B regional title at Union-Endicott.

Chenango Valley (11-3-3) will play Section 6’s Lafayette in a state semifinal at 3 p.m. Nov. 14 at Middletown High School’s Faller Field. The winner plays in the state final at 1:15 p.m. Nov. 15 at Middletown.

Class C: Seton CC 3, Bishop Ludden 1

Seton (13-4-2) overcame a 1-0 deficit and advanced to the Class C final four with a victory over the champion from Section 3 at Chenango Valley High School.

Seton’s Broc Malyszek scored the go-ahead goal off a corner kick early in the second half, then netted another goal off a corner with about 15 minutes to play.

Gregorio Morales scored the tying goal for Seton in the first half off an assist from Jake Dalla-Verde.

The Saints will face Section 6 champion Wilson in a semifinal at 8:45 a.m. Nov. 15 at Middletown High School. The final is scheduled for 10 a.m. Nov. 16 at Middletown.

Class A: Maine-Endwell 1, New Hartford 0

Maine-Endwell added a regional title to a season that also included Southern Tier Athletic Conference and Section 4 championships with a victory over Section 3’s New Hartford at Union-Endicott.

Landon Stenta scored the goal on a penalty kick with 6:59 to play in the first half.

The Spartans (16-0-1) will play Section 6’s East Aurora in a state semifinal at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at Middletown High School.

Class AA: Cornwall 4, Binghamton 1

After earning the first Section 4 title in program history, Binghamton’s season came to a close with a loss to Section 9’s Cornwall in a regional final at Waverly Memorial Stadium.

Class D: Edmeston 2, Colton-Pierrepont 0

Section 4 champ Edmeston scored a goal in each half in a victory over Section 10’s Colton-Pierrepont in a Class D regional final at Chenango Valley.

Edmeston will play Section 5’s Fillmore in a state semifinal at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 15 at Middletown High School.
