Nayef Aguerd
Just weeks before CAN 2025, Nayef Aguerd is raising concerns. The Moroccan defender’s injury could potentially cost him a place at the Africa Cup of Nations on home soil.
Facing Stade Brestois this Saturday, Nayef Aguerd was forced to leave the pitch in the 79th minute. In the post-match press conference, De Zerbi confirmed the bad news. “This is the day’s bad news. He’s suffering from pubalgia, and today he felt it had worsened. He needs to undergo tests, but I think it’s necessary for him to stop for a while,” said the Marseille coach.

The coach added: “It could get worse, and he might miss the CAN, those crucial January-February months packed with decisive Champions League moments.” Aguerd will not join the Moroccan national team during the November international break. He will remain in Marseille to immediately begin a recovery protocol and undergo a series of tests that will shed more light on the length of his absence.
