Dodger fans aren’t done celebrating the back-to-back World Series titles yet!
Nearly 200 fans woke up bright and early Sunday morning for a special Dodgers-themed World Series victory hike at Griffith Park.
“On a Sunday, it was like hard to get up actually, but yeah, we got up!” said Dodger fan Monica Navarro.
The hike was organized by a group called the Dodgers Blue Hiking Crew, which is described as “an unofficial group created by official fans.”
“This is just a bunch of loyal fans out here. We do this every year. The Dodger Blue Hiking Crew puts this together for all of us to just have this big celebration and hike all the way to the top. It’s awesome!” said Dodger fan Richard Moreno.
The crowd completed 6.5 miles of a challenging trail, and the hike was much like this season — full of ups and downs. One mega fan drove in from Orange County and said he couldn’t miss this year’s event.
“This is my third time doing this hike to celebrate the Dodgers’ back-to-back championship,” he said. “I love the energy, love the people. We’re from Orange County, and we love our people. Championship Dodgers, let’s go!”
“Celebrate that win, back-to-back, it was a rough ride throughout the whole World Series, but we got it done!” Ricardo Ibarra said.
Participants say it’s not just about the Dodgers, it’s about building community.
“I call this my parade. I haven’t gone to the parade. I didn’t go last year, I couldn’t go this year, but I call this my parade because I get to hike and hang out with people and chill with them, which is pretty fun,” Ismael Cardenas said.
The organizers say they are already planning their next Dodger hike for sometime in March. Those interested in joining should follow them on social media.
