Travis Hunter's rookie season cut short following knee surgery, expected back for 2026

Former Colorado Buffaloes star Travis Hunter’s rookie season appears to be over. The Jacksonville Jaguars’ rookie WR/CB underwent season-ending LCL surgery recently and is expected to make a full recovery within six months.

Hunter, a two-way phenom under head coach Deion Sanders, was beginning to make his imprint in the NFL before the injustice occurred. In fact, Jaguars coach Liam Coen stated that Hunter would become a focal point of the offense before he was put on injured reserve.

Before the injury, Hunter had recorded 14 tackles, three passes defended, 298 receiving yards and one touchdown through seven games, showcasing the same versatility that made him the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner.

For Buffs fans, this news comes at a time when watching its former stars in the NFL would be a nice reprieve from the 3-7 football team in Boulder.

Hunter will now have his eyes set on 2026, where, without a doubt, the question will come up whether he can continue to play substantial snaps on both offense and defense.
