Miami Dolphins right tackle Austin Jackson won’t make his return from the injured reserve in time to play the Washington Commanders in Madrid. On Saturday, he was downgraded from doubtful to out for the Week 11 contest.
Jackson, 26, landed on IR after suffering a toe injury in the Dolphins’ Week 1 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. In his absence, Miami has turned to Larry Borom to start at right tackle. Right guard James Daniels also suffered a Week 1 injury that landed him on IR.
Earlier this week, the Dolphins opened the practice window for Jackson, giving them 21 days to move him from the injured reserve to the active roster.
“It was just great to see him back working with the guys,” Dolphins offensive coordinator Frank Smith said earlier this week. “I think opening up his window right now, we’ll be excited when the time comes but we’ll work through it and make sure he’s ready to go before we cross those roads.”
With a Week 12 bye on the way, Jackson is likely on track to make his return to the lineup for a Week 13 game against the New Orleans Saints.
