Cornerback Jack Jones recorded his first interception with the Miami Dolphins and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
With the Dolphins desperately needing a stop, Jones all but put the game away by stepping in front of a pass intended for Zach Ertz on the Washington Commanders‘ first play of overtime.

It was an overall quiet day for Jones as he recorded just one tackle and a pass defended in the game. But his overtime interception gave Miami the ball at Washington’s 33-yard line. Running back De’Von Achane followed up the pick with three consecutive runs that picked up 22 yards, setting up a 29-yard game-winning field goal for Riley Patterson.
Jones has now forced turnovers in back-to-back games with a forced fumble against Buffalo running back James Cook in the Week 10 win, and his interception of Commanders quarterback Marcus Mariota.
The Dolphins have now won three out of their last four games, bringing their record to 4-7 on the season. After a miserable start to the season, their dreams of an unlikely playoff run survive another week.
In his first season in Miami, Jones has started all 11 games, and now has 42 tackles, three tackles for loss, five passes defended, two forced fumbles, and an interception. He has been a reliable addition to a cornerbacks group that had all new faces to start the season.
