Welcome to the NFL, Shedeur Sanders.
A regular-season debut that had been long-awaited finally happened on Nov. 16, as the Cleveland Browns’ rookie got into a game. It came at the expense of fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel, who was knocked out of the Week 11 contest to be evaluated for a concussion.
Sanders was drafted in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft after one of the more shocking slides down the board in league history. The rookie hadn’t been afforded any opportunities to receive first-team reps in practice, with those reps instead going to Gabriel.
Cleveland appeared to have no intention of seeing what they had in the rookie, but they weren’t given much of a choice in Week 11.
Sanders certainly didn’t light up the box score, but did flash a little. He also tossed an interception in what was a rocky debut.
Here’s a look at Sanders’ stats in his debut.

- Dillon Gabriel
- Shedeur Sanders
It’s a duo of rookies on the active roster in the Browns’ quarterback room. Gabriel has struggled at times since taking over as the starter after Cleveland traded Joe Flacco.
Sanders struggled in his first regular-season action, but Gabriel’s injury status makes this an interesting room to monitor heading into Week 12.
