Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase suspended 1 game for spitting on Jalen Ramsey

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase has been suspended one game for spitting at Pittsburgh Steelers defender Jalen Ramsey.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported the news.

Ian Rapoport summarized the NFL’s ruling: “During the fourth quarter, Chase spit on Pittsburgh cornerback Jalen Ramsey, violating Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1, which applies to ‘any act which is contrary to the generally understood principles of sportsmanship.’”

Chase got into multiple altercations with Ramsey during his team’s loss to the Steelers in Week 11. Ramsey was ejected for throwing a punch at the Bengals wideout, but after the game accused Chase of sptting on him

Chase denied those allegations when it was his turn with the media. Sideline footage showed Chase spitting during the last altercation.

The NFL set a one-game suspension precedent earlier this year during Jalen Carter’s spitting incident with the Philadelphia Eagles, so this comes as no surprise.

Now 3-7, the Bengals Xwill be without Chase for a Week 12 encounter with the 9-2 New England Patriots.
