On Monday, the Auburn Tigers released their official depth chart ahead of their football matchup versus the Mercer Bears on Saturday.
Auburn is coming off their second off week of the season, and is looking to close out the season strong in the final two games of the season. A big question heading into the 11th game of the season would be the status of quarterback Ashton Daniels. He has played in three games this season, and can only play one more game to keep his redshirt status. Interim head coach D.J. Durkin announced on Monday that Daniels will not play.
“I think the best thing for Ashton (Daniels) is to preserve his redshirt year and be able to come back and play another year. I think it’s tremendous for this program and also for him,” Durkin said. That now opens another question, who will start at quarterback on Saturday between Jackson Arnold and Deuce Knight?
“Both of those guys are playing in this game, Jackson (Arnold) and Deuce (Knight). We’re going to go through practice this week and sort out what exactly that looks like, but I’m looking at both yesterday and they are both tremendously excited about this,” Durkin said. “I feel like Deuce has a lot of great football ahead of him, and he hasn’t had that opportunity. He is going to get that opportunity.”
Auburn fans will be excited to see Knight in his first game action since playing late versus Ball State. Here is a look at the official depth chart:
