Texas A&M senior safety reportedly plans to redshirt

On Wednesday, Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko provided an update on senior safety Bryce Anderson and his future with the program. Anderson has been sidelined since Week Two of the season after sustaining a head injury against Notre Dame.

During the SEC teleconference, Coach Elko revealed that Anderson is expected to redshirt this season, having only been active in four games—meeting the threshold that allows him to redshirt. He will miss the final two games but could return for postseason play without forfeiting that redshirt status.

A&M has fared well in his absence. However, having him available after the regular season would be a significant boost for depth and add an extra element to the defense that has not been on film for weeks. Below you can see his full comment.

“He’s still not completely back. I think he’s getting really close. I certainly don’t think it would be in Bryce’s best interest for him to go out and play in one of these two remaining games. The nice thing is that anything beyond these two wouldn’t count towards that. I think that would potentially present an opportunity for him as we move forward beyond these next two.”

Texas A&M will return to Kyle Field this weekend for Senior Day to face Samford, just one week after its historic comeback victory over the Gamecocks. Kickoff against the Bulldogs is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT and will be broadcast live on SEC Network+.
