Giants sign free agent right-handed pitcher

San Francisco announced the signing of right-handed pitcher Wilkin Ramos to a minor league contract on Wednesday. The Giants assigned him to Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday.

Ramos elected for free agency on Nov. 6. The 25-year-old is from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

He signed with the Athletics to a minor league contract on July 25, 2017. The Athletics traded him to Pittsburgh on Dec. 1, 2018.

Ramos was claimed off waivers by the Mets’ Triple-A affiliate Syracuse on Dec. 7, 2022. The Pirates signed him to minor league contract on Nov. 23, 2024.

From 2018-25 in minor league games, Ramos (24-16) has recorded a 3.22 ERA, 25 saves and 322 strikeouts in 316 innings.

Former Tennessee baseball head coach Tony Vitello was hired as the Giants’ manager in MLB on Oct. 22. He was introduced as San Francisco’s manager on Oct. 30.

Vitello served as the Vols’ head coach from 2018-25 and won the 2024 national championship.
