Less than one minute of game action later, Porter laid on the floor in a heap after stepping on Portis’ foot during a defensive possession and suffering a left ankle sprain. Missing a week with an ankle injury would have been a bad start to the season, but things only got worse for Porter from there. “We were still rehabbing, coming back from the sprained ankle, and we had a couple (of) last checkboxes to give it a go,” Porter told reporters Wednesday afternoon, speaking publicly for the first time since the season opener. “The last box was live play and contact, and I don’t remember the moment it happened because I was moving really good. I felt really good. “After my body calmed down, I kind of felt my knee lingering, and there was this little thing that I’ve never seen that was kind of popping out.”
