The Ram-Falcon trophy is going to have a long-term home after this week’s game.

The Colorado State and Air Force football teams play the day after Thanksgiving with the rivalry trophy going to the winner. The teams have played every season since a break in the mid-1970s, not counting when they didn’t play in the COVID-shortened 2020 season.

That is now ending. CSU is headed to the Pac-12 in 2026 and Air Force will remain in the Mountain West. There is no matchup between the teams currently on future schedules.

The winner of the game gets the Ram-Falcon trophy.

The Ram-Falcon Trophy was created in 1980 by a former CSU ROTC commander. CSU currently holds the trophy after winning the matchup last season.

With the teams not on the schedule to play each other in the near future, the winner of this matchup will hold the trophy for an extended period of time.

What are the records?

Air Force is 3-8 overall and 2-5 in Mountain West play. The Falcons are coming off a 20-3 home loss to New Mexico.

CSU is 2-9 overall and 1-6 in Mountain West play. The Rams are coming off a 49-21 loss at Boise State.

Who are the coaches?

Air Force is led by Troy Calhoun, who is in his 19th season leading the Falcons. Calhoun is 138-97 all-time at Air Force.

Colorado State will be led by Tyson Summers, who will be serving his fifth and final game as interim coach after the firing of Jay Norvell. CSU is 0-4 under Summers. Summers went 5-13 as the Georgia Southern head coach in 2016-17.

The game will be at Canvas Stadium on Colorado State’s campus in Fort Collins. Canvas Stadium has a seated capacity of 36,500 and 41,000 for standing room only.

What’s the series history?

Air Force leads the all-time series 39-22-1. The Rams won 21-13 last season on the road after losing the previous seven meetings. CSU hasn’t beat Air Force in Fort Collins since 2015.
