The Las Vegas Raiders continued their dismal performance in the 2025 NFL season by dropping another game, losing to the Jaguars, 30-29, in overtime. That was back on November 2, as the team got a much-needed bye week. The Raiders (2-9) return to action this week against the LA Chargers (7-4).

The poor play and another lost season have the Raiders’ minority owner, Tom Brady, searching for answers. According to NFL insider Dianna Russini, the former six-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback says

One of Las Vegas’ biggest weaknesses has been finding an identity at quarterback, a position that Brady knows plenty about. Veteran Geno Smith has done an admirable job with the offense, but he isn’t a long-term solution. And, the team just fired offensive coordinator Chip Kelly. That’s likely going to lead to more changes in Sin City.

“Quarterbacks coach Greg Olson has taken over as the offensive coordinator in Las Vegas after the team fired Chip Kelly on Sunday.”Russini wrote. “I’m told minority owner Tom Brady was a big advocate of bringing in Kelly to run the offense, and he has shared with some people close to him his disappointment in the team’s overall performance. His frustrations go beyond the offense, too.”

As odd as it may seem, legendary former Seahawks coach Pete Carroll could be on the hot seat in the desert this off-season. While his resume as a fomrer Super Bowl-winning leader is impressive, and he’s certainly in line to be a Hall of Famer, his tenure with the team has been incredibly shaky in year one.

After firing his offensive coordinator and special teams coach (Tom McMahon) within a couple weeks of one another, the classic coach looks lost in a new environment. That’s led to speculationn that he may not return in 2026 – through either his choice, or the team’s.

The Raiders have a lot of questions that need to be answered before they can claim to be contenders. And for a team that hasn’t won a postseason game in 22 years, it looks like Brady and Company are in the midst of a major re-building of the Raiders.
