There was some bad news on Thursday for Arizona Cardinals fans when the team practiced for the second time this week, preparing for their Week 13 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Running back Trey Benson, in his second week since being designated to return from injured reserve, was not on the field during the portion of practice open to the media.
When the officially injury report came out, he was listed as a non-participant, and the only injury designation was his knee, not any other injury or something non-injury related.
Benson has been out since Week 4 with a knee injury. He had his 21-day practice window opened last Wednesday. The Cardinals can activate him at any point during that time or at the conclusion of it. If not, he reverts to injured reserve for the remainder of the season.
He was limited all week in practice last week, so sitting out on Thursday leads one to believe that he perhaps reinjured it or had a setback.
Head coach Jonathan Gannon will next address the media on Friday.
The Cardinals will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday on the road at 1 p.m. ET (11 a.m. Arizona time).
