It’s no secret that the Bengals have struggled in 2025. Losing Joe Burrow for 10 weeks certainly played a part in that, while additionally the Cincinnati defense has struggled to keep opposing teams out of the end zone.
Heading into last night’s game, the Bengals were worst in the league in points allowed per game, allowing an average of over 32, the only NFL team averaging over 30. All of that changed on Thanksgiving however, as the Bengals dominated en route to a 32-14. The Cincinnati defense starred, forcing five turnovers and allowing only two touchdowns. On the ground, they kept Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson in check, surrendering just 87 rushing yards to the duo combined.
On offense, Joe Burrow threw for 261 yards and two touchdowns, including an impressive one-handed grab from tight end Tanner Hudson. The great team victory snapped a four game losing streak and moved the Bengals to 4-8 on the year and an impressive 3-1 in AFC North play.
After the game, head coach Zac Taylor spoke on the impressive victory. “That was the first all-around game we played all season, it felt like.” Taylor said. Taylor went on to praise all aspects of the victory, most notably the defense. That said, he also spoke highly of kicker Evan McPherson who was a perfect 6/6 on field goals including a 52-yard try.
Cincinnati’s tough closing schedule will continue next week as the Bengals travel to Buffalo to face the Bills.
