The Washington Commanders suffered a tough loss on Sunday Night Football in Week 13.
The team took the Denver Broncos to overtime, but a failed two-point conversion led to the team falling 27-26. That doesn’t mean it was all bad — in fact, there were several positives to take away from this performance.
For example, the Broncos are one of the NFL’s best teams, and the Commanders could have won this game. Additionally, Zach Ertz made NFL history, Marcus Mariota had his best game of the season, and star wide receiver Terry McLaurin returned to action.
After missing the last month with a quadriceps injury, McLaurin returned in Week 13 and caught seven passes for 96 yards and one score. The receiver had a rep count entering the game, considering he was coming off an injury. However, McLaurin said after the game that the rep count went out the window because the game was close.
“There was a rep count, but in my mind, I knew the game was close. I’m gonna spill it for my teammates,” McLaurin explained. “I mean, screw the rep count. So just to have the joy of the locker room guys supporting me, being out there is something I don’t take for granted.”
According to McLaurin, the plan was for him to be in for around 25 plays, but he ended up playing 46 of 90 offensive snaps.
Terry McLaurin said he was on a rep count of roughly 25 plays. Yeah, he blew past that.

The Commanders certainly needed their star player, and he did all he could. McLaurin also became the first player to score a touchdown on Pat Surtain II in a full year.
Unfortunately, McLaurin’s heroics were not enough to give the team the win. Now, the Commanders will prepare for a Week 14 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. All eyes will be on a potential Jayden Daniels return for that matchup.
